Tropic of Capricorn, located in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, offers home and garden items to delight the senses. We emphasize fresh, stimulating, contemporary, classical, and traditional design, indoors and out.

Passive solar construction helps heat the buildings, while the greenhouse—carved out of the hillside—shows exposed natural rock as you follow a path through the tropical greenery.

A meadow of wildflowers and native grasses beckons with a splash of color as you enter the parking area.

Designed by owner Michael Clark, Tropic of Capricorn combines practical efficiency with pleasing aesthetics. The unobtrusive, harmonious space draws from Feng Shui principles of placement.

From the spacious entry room, doorways invite exploration in all directions. The soothing trickle of fountains adds to the homey, stress-free ambiance.

The building's rooftops collect rainwater, which is channeled into two below-ground cisterns. This recycled rain is used to water the outdoor plants and landscape. It is also available to the local fire department, if needed.
